EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Commissioners to consider Opportunity Fund grants

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

Opportunity Fund grants, Glen Cove industrial expansion and bids for an overhead-to-underground utility project will be before Peninsula boards and commissions next week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider four Opportunity Fund grants totalling $2,808,833 during their weekly work session on Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or review the performance of a public employee in executive session during a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. Monday.

• An update from Peninsula Behavioral Health regarding its youth services and outreach to schools.

• Several resolutions appointing members to volunteer boards and commissions.

• A pre-application questionnaire for a $62,230 Victim Witness Assistance Grant from the Office of Crime Victim Advocacy.

• A purchase order from Connection of Merrimack, N.H., for $50,039 to purchase 50 computers for the virtual-to-physical migration project.

• An amended agreement with the state Department of Ecology, including the loan repayment schedule for the Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer system project.

• An agreement with the Port of Port Angeles for $1,758,833 in Opportunity Fund grants for phase 2 of the Marine Trades Center development project.

• An agreement with Peninsula Housing Authority for $25,000 in Opportunity Fund grants for the Eklund at Gales multi-unit affordable housing project in Port Angeles.

• An agreement with the city of Sequim for $555,000 in Opportunity Fund grants for the reservoir road water main and booster station expansion project.

• Agreement with Clallam County Public Works for $470,000 in Opportunity Fund grants for the Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer Snob Hill pump station replacement project.

• Discussion and resolutions regarding proposed budget reductions, revisions and supplemental appropriations for consideration on May 27.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. May 27 regarding several debatable budget emergencies.

• Amended agreements with Karen Unger, Lane Wolfley and William Payne for Superior Court conflict attorney services.

• A call for bids for the courthouse security project to be submitted no later than 10 a.m. June 3.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. June 3 regarding a resolution approving a channel migration zone technical report.

• A resolution to amend the allocation of year 2024-2027 federal Regional Surface Transportation Block Grant program funding.

• An agreement with Field Arts & Events Hall for $60,000 in 2025 Lodging Tax funds.

• An agreement with the Dungeness Crab Festival for $55,000 in 2025 Lodging Tax funds.

• Award of bid to Lakeside Industries, Inc. for $698,266 to service the 2025 Hot Mix Asphalt and CSS-1 Liquid Asphalt Supply Contract.
