EYE ON JEFFERSON: Jefferson commissioners to hold hearing on Port Ludlow Drainage District assessment system ordinance Monday … and other items

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the Port Ludlow Drainage District assessment system ordinance when they meet Monday.

Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The Port Ludlow Drainage District was formed in 2000, and commissioners must revisit it every four years. The hearing will be at 10 a.m.

A public hearing also is planned on an application for grant assistance from the Salmon Recovery Funding Board for acquisitions for the Lower Big Quilcene floodplain.

Commissioners also will consider:

A contract increasing the rate that the state Department of Corrections pays to house offenders in the county jail to $71.59 per day.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend Planning Commission will consider short-term rentals, vacation rentals and transient accommodations code revisions when it meets Wednesday.

The commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. in City Council chambers on the second floor of historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The City Council workshop originally set for Monday has been canceled.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider final action on changes to the Port Townsend Boat Haven renovation reserve fund when they meet Wednesday.

Commissioners will meet at 9:30 a.m. for a workshop and at 1 p.m. for a business meeting. Both will be at port headquarters at 333 Benedict St.

During the afternoon session, commissioners will consider using moorage fees to fund the Boat Haven renovation fund only through the end of this year and in 2017 begin funding a port-wide capital reserve fund.

They also will discuss a two-hour projects tour that will begin at 10 am. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Point Hudson Marina kayak float. Reservations are required. RSVP to snelson@portofpt.com.

At the morning session, commissioners will hear a bond council presentation and consider budget goals.

Port Townsend schools

The Port Townsend School Board will hear an update on the new elementary school project when it meets Monday.

The board will conduct a special meeting at 6 p.m. in Room S-11 at 1610 Blaine St.

The board will consider contracts with Integrus Architecture, The Robinson Co. and Northwestern Territories.

Chimacum schools

The Chimacum School Board will discuss its board retreat, which was to be held today, when it meets Wednesday.

The board retreat is set from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock.

On Wednesday, the board will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. at the library at the high school at 91 West Valley Road.

It will consider visioning its next steps and sign-ups for the All County Picnic on Aug. 21.
