The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider finalizing a letter protesting aerial spraying of herbicides when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Executive sessions are set from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. — one to discuss potential litigation and the other to discuss actual litigation.
Action will be considered after the closed-door sessions.
Commissioners also will consider proclaiming the week of Aug. 26 as Jefferson County Employee Recognition Week.
Items on the consent agenda include:
• Setting a hearing for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9 on declaring property surplus for sale for public benefit purposes.
• Temporary closure of Sandy Shore Road.
• A $25,000 agreement for the environmental assessment and cultural resource study of a county parcel near the intersection of 27th Street and Discovery Road.
• A $16,644 agreement for services for at-risk youth.
• An agreement concerning the administration of an emergency septic trust reserve account for Kala Heights Homeowners Association.
• A $14,640 agreement for a nurse care manager for the syringe exchange program.
Port Townsend city
The Port Townsend City Council Finance and Budget Committee will discuss the feasibility of a city-operated golf course when it meets at 3 p.m. Monday.
The meeting of the advisory committee will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The committee also will review unmet needs, such as deferred maintenance and unfunded items.
The City Council will not meet this week.
No other city committee meetings are scheduled this week.
Port of Port Townsend
Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider a lease with Fishery Point, LLC when they meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The regular session will be preceded by a workshop at 4 p.m. to discuss the capital budget. Both meetings are in chambers, 333 Benedict St.
Fishery Point has assumed the lease of Cunningham Ships Carpentry at Boat Haven, which is set to expire Aug. 31. Owner Mark Burn is requesting a new one-year lease.
Commissioners also will consider the year-to-date financial report at the regular session.
On the agenda for the workshop are such projects as an excavator, yard trailer, cameras, electrical meters, new electrical pedestals, the moorage office and a reservation system.
Chimacum School Board
The Chimacum School Board will be presented with the recount calendar when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.
A recount of ballots is planned in the race between Steve Martin and Gary Frogner, who are vying for second place on the general election ballot for the District 3 seat.
Board members will accept the 2018 Outstanding Achievement Award given by Jefferson County Public to the school district for outstanding food safety practices.
The board also will consider a superintendent’s recommendation to form a budget advisory committee for 2020-21 to help inform the public about financial issues.
Jefferson Transit
Jefferson Transit board members will conduct a public hearing on the transit development plan and the transportation improvement plan when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The board will meet at the transit facility at 63 Four Corners Road.
Following the public hearing, board members will consider approving the two plans.
They also will consider approving a trolley bus for downtown shuttle service.
They will consider a budget amendment, bond defeasance and a restroom installation contract.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear routine reports on finances, quality and from the chief medical officer when they meet at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The board will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.
Board members also will hear reports on compliance and from the patient advocate.
