Essays due Dec. 13 for student contest

PORT ANGELES — The Michael Trebert Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring an essay contest for Clallam County students in fifth- through eighth-grade.

The contest is open to students in public, private and home schools.

In celebration of next year’s 400th anniversary of the Mayflower landing, the Mayflower is the topic for entries.

The deadline for the submission of essays is Dec. 13.

One winner will be selected from each grade level and each winner will receive a certificate, a medal and a $50 award at a local celebration Feb. 29.

Winning essays will be entered into the state-wide contest.

Submissions must meet detailed DAR contest rules which can be obtained by calling Virginia Wagner at 360-582-6820 or emailing [email protected]
