Diamonds in the rough

PORT HADLOCK — Jennifer Sherman will present “Diamonds in the Rough: Gentrification of Rural Washington” at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Sherman will speak in the Humphrey Room at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.

Sherman is a professor of sociology at Washington State University and the author of “Dividing Paradise: Rural Inequality and the Diminishing American Dream.”

She will discuss both the glaring and the hidden effects of rural gentrification.
