Jefferson County DCD to offer new services

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Department of Community Development will offer new services beginning July 1.

The services include an online scheduling calendar so that customers can request appointments before they drive to the office and be scheduled to receive uninterrupted assistance on a day they choose, said Emma Bolin, planning supervisor.

The Customer Assistance Meeting (CAM) will be updated to offer a variety of options including:

• Type of staff, such as a planner, building representative, sanitarian.

• Service, such as in-person meeting, telephone call or email.

• Length of staff review requested.

• Site visit option for an additional fee.

CAM’s that take 30 minutes or less will be charged a $50 fee. Services that take between 30 and 60 minutes will require a $100 fee. Up to $94 of the customer service fees can be credited to a permit application if the customer applies within the year.

Highlights of the new CAM process include the ability to schedule services in advance; web-based scheduling, fee payment, and document upload; and staff ability to research requests in advance of meeting, according to county officials.

DCD will offer appointment times for this new service between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays. Customers are asked to request appointments at least 48 hours in advance.

DCD walk-in hours will be offered between 10:30 a.m. and noon Mondays through Thursdays for 15-minute consultations at 621 Sheridan St., Port Townsend. An advance fee payment is required.

Jefferson County Environmental and Public Health offers walk-in hours between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the adjacent office.
