Daytime delays expected Tuesday on Hood Canal Bridge

SHINE — State Department of Transportation crews will reduce the span to one alternating lane of traffic on Tuesday to remove a section of barrier wall damaged in last Friday’s collision.

The work is scheduled to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Delays are expected in each direction, according to a press release from DOT.

The department encourages travelers to add extra time to planned trips or to travel early in the morning or late at night.

“This work requires daylight to allow crews to perform the work safely,” DOT said in the press release. “Crews will use heavy equipment to remove damaged barrier from the bridge. Travelers can expect additional work in the future as WSDOT plans to make permanent repairs. WSDOT will announce that work in advance.”

The draw span will remain open for marine traffic during this work, DOT said.

Advance information about the Hood Canal Bridge is available via email alerts. Travelers can get information about the Hood Canal Bridge at Hoodcanalbridge.com, WSDOT app, WSDOT statewide travel map and the WSDOT regional Twitter account.
