Command changes for Navy Region Northwest

SILVERDALE — Rear Adm. Brad Collins assumed command of Navy Region Northwest during ceremony June 18 at Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor.

Navy Region Northwest is responsible for every naval facility in the eleven states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa.

Collins, a native of Lake Forest, Calif., was commissioned in 1992 and trained as a helicopter pilot.

He previously served as chief of staff for the commander of Navy Installations Command at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

Collins relieved Rear Adm. Stephen Barnett, who commanded the region throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Barnett, who is also an aviator, will move to San Diego to take command of Navy Region Southwest.
