PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioner candidate Sue Forde on Tuesday lambasted the Olympic Discovery Trail as a waste of tax dollars.
“I believe that the Olympic Discovery Trail is a boondoggle,” Forde, a Republican, told about 40 Port Angeles Business Association members during their weekly breakfast meeting at Joshua’s Restaurant.
It was her first public appearance since announcing her run for District 1 commissioner in late April.
The Sequim-area businesswoman also told association members the county did not need a stormwater management ordinance.
Forde, owner of a graphic design business, also was critical of the county’s sign code.
Forde, 56, was responding to Dave LaRue, a Peninsula Trails Coalition board member, who asked about her position on the trail, which has been funded through federal transportation dollars.
