Civic Field improvement discussion postponed

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission on Thursday postponed discussion on Civic Field improvements last week because the assessment is not finished.

The city has a consulting agreement with Bruce Dees & Associates to assess the needs of the aging multipurpose field off Race Street in Port Angeles.

A special meeting was called on the issue four weeks ago.

“It was thought that perhaps at this point we would have a Civic Field assessment prepared by the consultant,” Deputy Recreation Director Richard Bonine said Thursday night.

“That has not happened as of yet — a final document — and staff doesn’t want to hand out incomplete documents.”

Corey Delikat, parts superintendent, received a rough draft of the assessment from the consultants last week.

“There was still some questions in staff’s mind and some clarification we needed and requested,” Bonine said.

“So that document was sent back to the consultant. That’s part of the process. They’re working on the final draft that we can distribute to this commission.”

A special meeting will be called when the assessment is finished, Bonnie said.
