CARLSBORG — A collision Friday night on U.S. 101 claimed the year’s 18th victim on North Olympic Peninsula highways and roads.
Lorna W. Kuhlman, 75, of Sequim was killed when the 1994 Buick Regal she was driving was struck at 7:05 p.m. while turning northbound onto Mill Road from Highway 101, the Washington State Patrol reported Saturday.
Kuhlman’s car was struck by a 1992 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Andrew J. David, 34, of Goldendale, troopers reported.
David’s SUV was westbound on Highway 101 “at a high rate of speed,” the State Patrol said.
The crash scene is in the heart of a busy 45 mph Highway 101 stretch that runs through the growing Carlsborg commercial district.
Westbound traffic comes off of the Sequim bypass, where the speed limit is 55 mph.
