FORKS — An early morning fire has destroyed the store that once housed Dazzled by Twilight in downtown Forks and the historical International Order of Odd Fellows Hall.
The landmark IOOF hall, built in 1925, was used in recent years as a stage by the Rainforest Players and also is host to community meetings and events such as dances.
Stores such as a shop specializing in Latin American foods and goods were at the street level.
The Twilight store, closed last January, was the former Fern Gallery.
PDN correspondent Lonnie Archibald reported that the fire was reported about 4 a.m. at the corner of Forks Avenue and East Division Street.
Clallam County Fire District No. 1 of Forks and Beaver responded as did Forks police and Forks paramedics.
Power went out in much of the town, canceling school classes for today. The Clallam County Public Utility District reported that power has been restored to most customers. There are a few, however, who will require a lengthy outage while facilities affected by the fire are repaired.
Further details as they become available.
