PORT ANGELES – Police are investigating a two-car crash Thursday morning that they say resulted from an impromptu race on East Front Street.
A Chevrolet Camaro traveling westbound in the 1100 block of East Front Street struck a van from behind that was pulling out of a parking spot at 9:29 a.m., sending the driver of the van to the hospital with minor injuries, said Port Angeles Police Officer Duane Benedict.
The Camaro, which was driven by a teenage boy, was engaged in what investigators called a “contest of speed” with another vehicle, Benedict said.
“Apparently he wasn’t paying attention to what was in front of him,” Benedict said.
