PORT ANGELES — Re-establishing airline service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport will be the focus of the Port of Port Angeles’ reinvigorated Community Airline Task Force.
The Port advisory panel, comprised of business and tourism leaders and government officials, had its charter renewed Monday by the Port commissioners until June 30, 2006.
The Port also will work with the Clallam County Economic Development Council to establish a broader committee to examine all forms of transportation on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Port Executive Director Bob McChesney said the Port will discuss with the EDC who would form the broader transportation task force.
“Kenmore Air [Express] has provided great service,” said Port Commissioner John Calhoun of the passenger airline, which flies to Seattle’s Boeing Field.
“But I will not support the airline task force if it is not pursuing re-establishing service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport”
The Port of Port Angeles operates William R. Fairchild International Airport.
