PORT TOWNSEND — Shantala will lead a kirtan concert at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The kirtan, or sacred chanting, will be at Unity Port Townsend, 3918 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend.

Shantala, composed of Benjy and Heather Wertheimer, will be joined by David Michael, Steve Gorn, Sean Frenette and vocalist Kristin Wheary.
Kirtan, traditionally, is an Indian music form of devotional group singing and celebration of spirit that invites the audience to participate fully.
Shantala’s expansive style of kirtan is a unique blend of voices with instruments of India and the West, sweeping audiences through the centuries and around the world.
The music draws from numerous sacred traditions worldwide, and no particular religious affiliation or belief system is required or implied.
Benjy Wertheimer is a songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who plays tabla, congas, percussion, esraj, guitar and keyboards.
Heather Wertheimer is a kirtan artist, singer, songwriter and guitarist who has toured in the U.S. and abroad with her husband Benjy and Steve Gorn, Manose, Deva Premal and Miten.
Gorn has performed Indian classical music on the bansuri bamboo flute in concerts and festivals throughout the world.
David Michael, a Port Townsend-based Celtic harpist, has been collaborating with Benjy for 45 years.
Sean Frenette is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who playing bass, a three-string guitar, electric classical guitar, woodwinds and piano.
