Port Townsend walk-by exhibit features textile artists

La Connor show includes Peninsula art

PORT TOWNSEND — There’s a farm theme to the new display at 675 Tyler St., Port Townsend, in the walk-by exhibit of the North Olympic Chapter of the Surface Design Association.

Created by eight regional textile artists, the pieces will be on view through July, when they move to “Farm. Fresh. Art” at Mead Werks, the Wilderbee Farm meadery, 223 Cook Ave., Port Townsend.

Sequim artist Liisa Fagerlund joins Port Angeles’ Evette Allerdings and Barbara Houshmond, Port Ludlow’s Jeri Auty and Port Townsend artists Leslie Dickinson, Sue Gale, Debra Olson and Barbara Ramsey in the exhibit.

Information on “Farm. Fresh. Art” at Wilderbee’s Mead Werks is posted in the window and on the chapter’s website, sda-np.com.

La Conner exhibit

More than a dozen textile art and surface design techniques from 24 artists are represented in an exhibit opening July 7 at La Conner’s Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum.

Both traditional arts such as quilting, sewing, embroidery, applique and weaving and such contemporary techniques as fabric dyeing, painting, printing, collage, beading, and felting are seen in the 58 two- and three-dimensional pieces displayed by 24 members of the Surface Design Association’s North Peninsula chapter.

Exhibiting artists from Clallam and Jefferson counties are:

Chimacum: Erica Iseminger and Mary Tyler.

Nordland: Joyce Brustad Gordon.

Port Angeles: Allerdings, Houshmand and Michelle Johnson

Port Ludlow: Auty.

Port Townsend: Dickinson, Gale, Olson, Ramsey, Caryl Bryer Fallert-Gentry, Pat Herkal, Sandee Johnson, Kindy Kemp, Jean-Marie Tarascio, Cathie Wier, Joyce Wilkerson and Erika Wurm.

Sequim: Linda Carlson, Kathie Cook and Fagerlund.

In normal (pre-pandemic) times, the North Olympic chapter meets monthly, with meetings rotated between Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles. Guests are welcome.

The July meeting will be at 2 p.m. July 14 in Sequim’s new quilt shop, A Stitch in Time, 225 E. Washington St.
