O Christmas tree

A crowd of several hundred holiday revelers, most of which were children, watches as the downtown Port Angeles Christmas tree is lit during the Hometown Holiday event Saturday night. A block of Laurel Street was closed for the ceremonies and holiday food vendors. Santa arrived escorted by a caravan of motorcycles before Mr. and Mrs. Claus (Bob and Kathy Nicholls) counted down to the tree lighting with the assistance of Paul Jarkiewicz, executive director of the Port of Port Angeles and part of the emcees for the event. Entertainment was also provided by the youth of White Crane Martial Arts, where Nicholls is Grandmaster of Taekwondo.
