LETTER:Too little, too late

I agree with the essence of the objection by another Sequim resident about the method used by the vaccination clinic in Sequim, which was on a first-come, first-served basis.

I’m sure the tribe had good intentions thinking that this would be less administration and not any different than lining up for an outdoor concert or event.

What wasn’t considered was the hardship for the senior population and their anxiety to be vaccinated which compelled some to spend the night parked on the road for many hours.

Let’s face it; all we hear and read about is the COVID 19 devastation, particularly the death rate among people in the over 70 age group so this was cause for the vaccination frenzy.

Many of us seniors after being initially turned away by the traffic control decided to wait it out until the rush subsided in a few days.

This never happened so we are still waiting and when next week comes and the added tier group of 65 and over shows up, we’ll be competing with them and have to wait some more.

We’re told that a new system to make an appointment will become available in February. This should bring about less traffic line-up but will it allow the Tier 1b group more availability? If not, many of us in the over-70 age group will be unable to ever be vaccinated at this clinic.

At this point, hoping COVID doesn’t happen first, my husband and I just expect that we’ll be going to CVS or Walgreens for our vaccination once more vaccine becomes available.
