Great shakes

Thank you for the article in last Friday’s front page story about Key City Public Theatre’s latest Shakespeare in the Park production, “The Merry Wives of Windsor.”

Although I haven’t see it yet, as a former member of the troupe, I’m sure it’s a superb staging, knowing the quality of productions KCPT’s Artistic Director Denise Winter always brings to her work.

One thing missing in the article which I think is very much worth mentioning.

For those people who think they “don’t understand” Shakespeare, this play is very, very accessible to modern American audiences.

It’s the only play he crafted entirely in prose, saving many from the befuddlement sometimes caused by the iambic pentameter verse used in other plays.
