LETTER:Gaza ceasefire

The Port Townsend City Council voted unanimously to approve a ceasefire in Gaza resolution where tens of thousands of innocent people, including 9,000 children, have died.

Now, the Port Angeles City Council should approve Councilman Lindsay Schromin-Wawrin’s resolution also calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Seattle, San Francisco, Detroit, and Atlanta, have approved ceasefire in Gaza resolutions the PDN reports.

South Africa filed with the UN International Court of Justice in the Hague charges of genocide against the Netanyahu regime.

The Republic of Ireland joined in those charges.

While visiting family in Baltimore, my daughter, grandson, and I joined a Jan. 13 rally of 30,000 protesters in Freedom Plaza in Washington D.C.

We chanted, “Ceasefire Now.”

I held the sign I painted: “Mr. President, U.S. Bombs Are Killing Gaza Babies.”

Standing beside us were hundreds of Palestinian-Americans from Detroit.

Their leader told us 1,000 people came on 30 buses and 100 cars from Detroit to demand a ceasefire, a free and independent Palestine.

They vote in a battleground state.

Hamas’s terrorist attack Oct. 7 killed 1,200 innocent Israelis.

But a vast majority of Palestinians are also innocent.

I agree with former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzak Rabin and PLO Chairman,Yasir Arafat: Two States, Palestine and Israel at peace.

Who opposes a Two State solution? Netanyahu, former President Donald Trump and Hamas.

The weapons and billions in tax dollars we deliver to Israel fuel endless genocide.
