LETTER: Who voted for tax?

There was a time, not too long ago that a super-majority was required for any tax increase for schools.

That was because the Legislature realized that not all voters were property taxpayers so the tax increase was no burden on them.

Now a simple majority, one vote over 50 percent voter approval, and the proposed tax increase is passed.

It would be interesting to know just what percentage of voters in Clallam County are not property owners.

It doesn’t take too long for things to begin falling apart when the number of tax beneficiaries exceeds the number of taxpayers.
