LETTER: Vote for independent candidates

It’s not the American people who are divided.

It’s the two halves of the Daddy Warbucks Party that are at war.

And us?

We’re the audience that walked into the magic show for entertainment and sat in disbelief as the magician and his provocatively clad assistant cut the lady in half before our eyes.

Our common sense tells us that what we saw was an illusion, but none of us really knows how it was done.

Now the circus is in town, and we watch multiple candidates debate under the rules of the DNC corporation or the rallies put on by the single Banana Republican representing the GOP corporation.

If asked, we’d all claim to be an observer who wears the label of one party or the other only because we had to declare our allegiance in order to register to vote.

We think of ourselves as levelheaded, independent thinkers, but we’re not.

How can we be when we’re under a blitz of biased disinformation?

It’s time to disconnect from our electronic devices long enough to take a hard look at our individual core values.

Do the rules I live by match the ideals in the preamble of our U.S. constitution?

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.”

Vote for an independent candidate who upholds those ideals.
