LETTER: Trump budget would slash funding to necessities such as June 4’s CERT training

The Olympic Peninsula News Group story in the June 4 Peninsula Daily News provided comprehensive coverage of the laudable diligence of Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) in Sequim that joined first responders to practice-emergency situations in the case of earthquake [“First-Of-Its-Kind Quake Drill In Sequim Draws About 200”].

President Donald Trump’s proposed budget would slash CERT, as well as other already funded earthquake warning systems.

Without these warning systems, elevators could not shut down, hospitals could not turn on backup generators, people could not be warned to take cover, transportation would be blindsided, tsunami monitor stations would no longer operate and on and on.

Another mistake by this president, adding to my exhaustion over his many other mistakes.
