LETTER: Thank you, Inslee and Ferguson, for speaking out against shameful Muslim travel ban

I am extremely proud of Gov. Jay Inslee and state Attorney General Bob Ferguson for speaking out — and doing something — about the Muslim travel ban.

Inslee’s recent impassioned speech at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport nailed it for what it is — stupid, cruel and, by the way, totally useless; we already have the toughest vetting process on the planet.

This edict is nothing but the most repulsive, cynical political grandstanding.

Its only point is to gain power by demonizing a target group.

To hold people without due process, to have them interrogated and handcuffed — essentially to treat them like criminals — because of their religion, what great public relations for America.

What a great recruiting tool for Daesh [Islamic State group].

Does it make anyone feel safer to know that innocent people were handcuffed when they tried to legally enter the country?

How about nauseated? Horrified? Outraged?

Land of the free and home of the brave, indeed.

We are branded with shame before the whole world.
