LETTER: Stoffer passionate about service to school board

I am writing this letter on behalf of my fellow volunteer, community advocate and friend Jim Stoffer for re-election to the Sequim school board.

My husband and I raised our three children in this community, with two still enrolled in Sequim High School.

I have a vested interest in the candidates running for the school board.

Stoffer serves as a volunteer in different capacities within our community; this is how I met him.

We have spent numerous hours together volunteering our time and have traveled to other communities in Washington representing Sequim.

During this time, we have discussed and debated our opinions on topics encompassing the Sequim School District.

I appreciate that even though we do not always agree, Stoffer is open to my views and makes a concerted effort to understand my side as a parent.

A specific example encompasses a discussion about the recent history surrounding the school levies.

My experience as a parent and homeowner is what ultimately decided how I voted.

I voiced to him where I think the district had areas of opportunity for growth as well as where I thought they had success.

He listened intently and invited me to share my thoughts.

I have watched him interact with students as well.

He listens to their suggestions and is fully invested in making sure their voices are heard.

Jim Stoffer tirelessly volunteers his time in this community but is most passionate about his service with the school board.

This is why I am endorsing him.
