LETTER: Sources for information on candidates, ballot measures

From Port Angeles

I know many people have already voted, for those who have not, may I pass on two really good sources that give information that I appreciated when I voted.

One is the Home Rule Charter link on the Clallam County website, www.clallam.net/bocc/homerulecharter.html. It is the only place that I found arguments for and against the proposed amendments I needed to decide upon.

The other is the Ballotopedia website, where, when I entered my street address, it presented me with a sample ballot with all of the candidates and initiatives.

Why this was important to me is that the Secretary Of State’s voter guide really doesn’t give us enough information to make an informed decision on the four advisory votes.

But Ballotopedia includes a link to the actual bills that were passed that we are asked to approve or disapprove. They are surprisingly readable; it is much easier to decide whether to accept or reject each bill when one actually reads it.
