LETTER: Questioning writer’s ‘proof’

I never cease to be amazed that PDN letter writers seem to be oblivious of the climate crises occurring around the world.

The “Disputes climate change” letter published Jan. 27 claims that “there is no scientific consensus of global warning.”

(Spelling? If the writer didn’t mean “warming,” maybe it’s correct, but I don’t think so.)

The “proof” presented for this statement: “A comprehensive, multi-disciplinary compilation of technical papers challenges the notion …”

The letter contains no title or names of authors of these “technical papers.”

No editor of the “multi-disciplinary compilation” is presented.

No date of publication included.

What was the title of this compilation?

Who were these authors?

When did they write these technical papers?

Were these papers peer reviewed as is required by the International Panel on Climate Change?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Perhaps the writer was over the required maximum 250 words?

No, the letter was about 170 words long, depending on how the PDN counts hyphenated words.

That would allow some 80 words to at least provide a title, author and year of publication.

It seems more plausible to me that the letter writer didn’t want anyone to check sources of this “comprehensive, multi-disciplinary compilation” or the authors of the “technical papers.”

Perhaps we would discover a connection between the fossil fuel industry and the compilation, technical papers and authors?

Again, inquiring minds want to know.
