LETTER: Neupert best choice for District Court judge

David Neupert is by far the best choice for Clallam County District Court 1 judge in the Aug. 7 primary.

On top of practicing criminal and civil law in Clallam for more than 25 years, Dave Neupert has extensive experience as a judge pro tem for District Court 1, and since last February he has been the acting presiding judge of that court.

He completed Washington State Judicial College and is a member of the District & Municipal Court Judges’ Association.

He took special training to become a certified mediator.

He certainly has the qualifications and proven experience to take the next step and become our full-time District 1 judge.

As for his temperament, I’ve watched him for years as he’s worked as an attorney and as a judge.

He is deliberate, thoughtful and empathetic.

He approaches situations with tact and a balanced demeanor.

Outside the courtroom, Neupert has put in thousands of hours of service working for the community as a volunteer, becoming board president of Habitat for Humanity Clallam County, vice president of Peninsula Behavioral Health and serving as a board member of United Way Clallam County and the Peninsula College Foundation.

He is a past president of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce.

I urge you to vote for Dave Neupert for District Court 1 judge.

Our county deserves Neupert’s experience, character and leadership.

John Brewer,

Port Angeles
