LETTER: More trash cans on the Waterfront Trail

I have a large golden retriever who insists on daily walks, so I find myself often walking the waterfront trail.

I feel fortunate indeed to live in such a beautiful place with a gorgeous showcase trail.

I am concerned however, with the lack of trash cans.

There are several by the Red Lion, and I don’t think there is another one on the trail until Deer Park, several miles away.

So surprise, the trash on the trail has increased.

Someone is sure to blame the homeless or others, but really why can’t the city provide more cans?

Also, does it not bother anyone else that when cleanups are done, they report removing the personal belongings of the homeless?

What shameless person isn’t bothered by throwing away the only photo someone has of their family, or ID that they struggled to obtain so they can actually get a job?

What do you say to someone who says they have nowhere to go: “I don’t care about you; you are like trash to me”?

Which brings me back to my original point, why aren’t there more trash cans?
