LETTER: Let Port Angeles Harbor bottom lie as it has done for years

Some things are better left unsaid, and some things are better left undone.

One thing left unsaid about the Port Angeles Harbor cleanup is: It is better left undone and to let the sleeping harbor bottom lie, just as it has for some many years now.

I don’t recall any outrageous reports for all of these many years from the public of dirty problems about our harbor waters or beaches on Ediz Hook, in the Port of Port Angeles’ Boat Haven or on the boats parked therein, on Hollywood Beach or the new downtown West End Park.

The stupid idea of spending/wasting precious dollars on disrupting our quiet, safe harbor area makes about as much sense as daylight saving time — changing all your time-related devices — twice a year.

The states of Arizona [except for the Navajo tribe] and Hawaii are still standing in the same place on all maps, as they have since statehood — without “DST.”

Doesn’t that tell us something about unnecessary activity?

I don’t recall of any outrageous reports for all of these many years from the public of the so-called dirty problems about our harbor waters or beaches on Ediz Hook, in the Port of Port Angeles’ Boat Haven, on the boats parked therein, on Hollywood Beach or the new downtown West End Park.

Someone just wants to spend a whole bunch of taxpayers’ money.

So, enough said. Leave our harbor bottom alone to prevent a “helluva” mess in, and on, our clean harbor — as it is now.

Let it rest in peace. Amen.

Paul Lamoureux,

Port Angeles
