The rule of law, Congressional oversight, separation of powers, co-equal and independent branches of government, checks and balances, separation of church and state, and yes, impeachment.
In order for the great American experiment of self-government, government of, by and for the people, to exist, these things are not optional.
In order for our way of life, our freedoms and our form of government to continue, these are not optional.
In order to prevent any part of the government, or any individual in government, from grabbing too much power and subverting what is in the best interests of the people, these things are not optional.
With 50 states and well over 300 million people in the U.S., there are almost an infinite number of different opinions, philosophies and viewpoints which the federal government must consider in determining what actions are in the best interests of the people.
To be able to do so, these things are not optional.
If you think that some of these safeguards in American government should be loosened or abolished just because those overstepping their powers appear to be doing so in line with your particular views, then you are fatally misguided.
These things listed above are not optional, and once loosened, they can never be tightened up again.
Whose wants and views will then be dominant in the future?
Impeachment is not something the Democrats are doing, it is Congress that is fulfilling its sacred constitutional duty, in spite of the traitorous betrayal of the GOP.
