LETTER: Chaos and fear

Port Angeles

Mr. Trump: the president of chaos and fear instead of law and order.

Our free press, our intelligence services, our military, our postal service, our health care system and our scientists are all targets for his constant derision.

The tactics of authoritarian regimes in Russia, China, and North Korea, renowned for the deaths of millions of their own citizens, mirror his own view of law and order.

Is this what he hopes for the United States?

Our neighbors, friends, relatives and coworkers are targeted during their pursuit of justice and labeled domestic terrorists.

If we as a nation cannot support all our citizens in causes of justice, we will never be able to move forward together.

Our president seems to encourage vigilantism and harm to those who do not support him.

Is the right to bear arms also the right to use lethal weapons to intimidate?

Our fears are not calmed, they are agitated.

We are a nation of many backgrounds and beliefs, but Mr. Trump supports only those people who pledge support to him.

We will never be united in our quest for justice and peace and prosperity for everyone if we cannot work to find common ground and emphasize the decency that lives in each of us.

We should have the right to live in our own communities without constant threat of harm no matter what color our skin.

Trump’s distractions cause chaos and fear, not peace and security.

“Squirrel.”

We deserve better.
