LETTER: Above all, please vote

From Nordland

Our U.S. Constitution wasn’t a scratch-built document, and many of our governing principles were gleaned from writings of the ancient Greeks.

Our system is far from perfect, but its seemingly glacial pace of endless deliberation is essential for safeguarding us from the selfish or impulsive demands of a would-be dictator.

The Greeks were in fact obsessed with the process of identifying and selecting potential leaders.

To paraphrase Aristotle — “Politicians should be watched from birth, and only those who consistently act for and in favor of the public good should ultimately be selected. Those who fail at or turn away from their responsibilities must be rejected.

Please choose with care this November.

Your health, safety, and the very existence of our country could ultimately depend upon the character and experience of your chosen candidate.

Above all, please vote.
