Hannah: Supports proposed Port Angles School District levy

Faith in future

As I was walking around town recently I noticed all the public places our community has built in the last many years through voter approved bonds and taxes.

These include the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, the Port Angeles Library, the Port Angeles Fire Station and two elementary schools.

All of these buildings were in terrible shape.

The community recognized the need to replace them and, most importantly, wanted to replace them.

And we were willing to pay for that.

We’re proud of each and every one of these buildings.

Our community shows them off to newcomers and uses them enthusiastically on a daily basis.

The library and senior center particularly have had increased use since they were built.

Now it’s time for most Port Angeles schools to be renovated and/or replaced.

They, too, are in terrible shape, difficult for students and staff alike in which to do their best.

The time has come for them to be replaced.

The cost is high but will only be higher if we delay.

I know that if I want something I’m willing to budget more dollars each week for that expenditure.

I hope all of us want better schools for our students and community.

I urge you to join me in voting yes for this levy.

Let’s have schools that shows our pride of community and faith in our future.
