Tall ships offer opportunities to wet your sailing whistle

PORT ANGELES — The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will arrive at City Pier today to offer tours and sailings at various times throughout the weekend.

In addition to deck tours, the two ships will be open to the general public for ticketed Adventure Sails, Evening Sails and a Battle Sale.

Adventure Sail: This sail offers stunning views and provides the experience of sailing as it has been done for hundreds of years, in addition to meeting the ship’s crew.

Battle Sail: Battle Sails feature booming cannons, close-quarters maneuvers and a taste of 18th century life aboard tall ships.

Evening Sail: Evening Sails are scheduled close to sunset, when the views are illuminated by golden light. They offer tall ship sailing up close, a chance to meet the crew and relax on a quiet evening cruise.
