Music performances and theater productions highlight a host of events on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
• Squatchcon returns to Port Angeles for a third year through Sunday. The annual comic, cosplay, gaming and fan culture festival is mostly at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
There is also an after-hours event at the Field Arts and Events Hall on Saturday.
Tickets are $25 per person, $15 for teens, 12 and younger admitted free and can be purchased at www.squatchconpa.com/tickets.
• The Salish Sea Early Music Festival will present “Trios by Franz Joseph Haydn” at noon Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1020 Jefferson St. Port Townsend.
Lindsey Strand-Polyak, violin and viola; Martin Bonham, cellist; and Jeffrey Cohan, eight-keyed flute, will perform three trios for flute, violin and cello by Haydn; a 1795 arrangement of Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute;” and a trio by Franz Anton Hoffmeister.
Admission is by a $20 to $30 freewill offering at the door; youths 18 and younger are admitted free.
• The Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra will be joined by violinist Charlotte Marckx at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.
Marckx and conductor Jonathan Pasternack will give a brief pre-concert chat at 6:30 p.m.
The public is also invited to the dress rehearsal performance at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The program includes Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 in G minor as well as Hindemith’s Prelude to “Mathis der Maler” and Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome.”
Tickets range from $10 per person at the dress rehearsal up to $40 per person at the evening concert and are available at www.portangeles symphony.org, at Port Book and News, 104 E. First St., Port Angeles, and at the door.
• Little Mermaid Jr. will open with shows at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Ghostlight Productions will present the Disney musical in the auditorium at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.

• Concerts in the Woods will host singer-songwriter Kim Richey at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle.
Tickets are with a suggested donation of $20.
• “Steel Magnolias” finishes its run this weekend with performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday at Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $15 for students and are available at olympictheatrearts.org, or by calling the box office (360-683-7326) between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
• An art discussion featuring Xin Xin, Neha Panicker and Soo Hong is set for noon Saturday at the Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St., Port Townsend.
The three artists all have work in the gallery’s exhibit, “A Warm Embrace,” which is on display through April 28.
The discussion, as well as admission to the gallery, is free.
• Country music singer Jamie O’Neal will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Field Arts and Events Hall, 201 Front St., Port Angeles.
Local performers Amanda Bacon and Todd Ortloff will open for O’Neal.

• Jonas Myers will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight in the Spirits Bar and Grill at the Old Alcohol Plant Inn, 310 Hadlock Bay Road, Port Hadlock. No cover.

• Battle of the Books, the North Olympic Library System’s final trivia contest for the 2024 Battle of the Books, will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The fourth-grade competitors have been reading and discussing the books “Chupacarter” by George Lopez, “Maizy Chen’s Last Chance” by Lisa Yee and “My Aunt is a Monster” by Reimena Yee since last November.
The public is invited to see teams from schools across the county.

• Bag of Books sale — The Port Angeles Friends of the Library will host a Bag of Books sale from 10 a.m. to 5:30 today and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The monthly fundraiser is in the lobby at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Bags will be provided. Customers can purchase as many books as they can fit into the bag for $5. Customers also can bring their Friends of the Library canvas tote bag and fill it for $3.
The Friends of Library’s adult book bags can be purchased for $8 and filled for free.

• 4-H Bunkhouse Cafe is open from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Home Arts Building at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles.
The menu include either pancakes, eggs and sausage links or biscuits and sausage gravy with eggs; both choices include coffee, tea or juice.
Meals cost $15 per person, cash only.
Proceeds benefit the Clallam County 4-H council’s scholarship fund.
• The Ready, Set, Bloom sale is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
The sale, at Dry Creek Grange, 3520 W. Edgewood Drive, Port Angeles, features vendors upstairs and food downstairs.
• Rally in the Alley is open from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or until the dumpsters are full, on Saturday.
Dumpsters will be located near the pickleball courts in Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake St., and at the city’s shop at Third Avenue and Hemlock Street.
The rally is sponsored by the city of Sequim, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County and Olympic Disposal.
Volunteers will be on hand to assist city residents with discarding unwanted items at no cost.
No tires, appliances, liquid paint, gas, fuel or oil will be accepted.

• Electronics recycling hosted by Olympic Kiwanis, in partnership with SBK Recycling, will collect electronics equipment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot at Civic Field, 307 S. Race St., Port Angeles.
The following items will be accepted for recycling: computers, laptops, servers, printers, LCD monitors, LCD TVs, printer ink and toner, networking items, server racks, hard drives, circuit boards, wire, UPS battery backups, computer accessories, cable boxes, video game consoles, home electronics, MP3 players, cell phones, iPads and other tablets, video games, stereo equipment and miscellaneous electronics.
Organizers cannot accept appliances, tube TVs or monitors, projection TVs, batteries or exercise equipment.
The program has been endorsed by the solid waste departments from Clallam County and the city of Port Angeles.
Donated devices will either be fixed and resold by SBK Recycling or disassembled for parts.
It’s recommended that personal data be wiped from your machines, if possible.
Proceeds from the collection will support Kiwanis programs for foster families, Camp Beausite NW for individuals with disabilities, the Kids Fishing Derby at Lincoln Park, working with teens through the Key Club and the re-build the Dream Playground.

• Shred event fundraiser for The Five Acre School Parent Service Organization will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the truck fills up, Saturday in the parking lot at 651 W. Washington St., Sequim.
Participants are asked to bring standard office paper and file folders for shredding in the on-site LeMay Mobile Shredding truck.
There is no need to remove staples or paper clips, but no cardboard, trash, CDs or DVDs are allowed.
The organizers can accept donations by cash or check; checks can be made out to “Five Acre School PSO.”
Proceeds benefit the school’s tuition assistance fund.
