Symphony Chorus invites singers to audition

PORT ANGELES — Singers are invited to audition for the Port Angeles Symphony Chorus on Tuesday.

The auditions will be at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave. Jonathan Pasternack, conductor and music director for the Port Angeles Symphony, and Joy Lingerfelt, director of the chorus, are making appointments now for that evening starting at 6 p.m.

To reach them and schedule an audition, call the symphony office at 360-457-5579 or email to PASymphony@olypen.com.

Singers should prepare an a cappella song and be ready to do some sight reading.

“Our repertoire for this year includes Bach’s Cantata No. 140, “Wachet auf,” and a fun take on “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” in the Symphony’s Dec. 14 Holiday Concert at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave., Pasternack said.

“In May, we’ll perform Faure’s sublimely beautiful ‘Requiem,’ ” also with the full orchestra, he said.

Chorus and orchestra members include musicians from Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend and beyond.

They rehearse in Port Angeles during the three to four weeks leading up to each concert, Pasternack added.
