SEQUIM — Historic model aircraft are on display through Saturday at Sequim Museum & Arts.
The museum is located at 544 N. Sequim Ave.
“Art in the Air,” presented by the Olympic Silent Flyers RC Club, contains unmotorized and motorized scale model airplanes, many historic in themselves or copies of historic aircraft. They range from 6-10 inches to nearly 10 feet in wingspan and are works of art in their construction.
The club works with the Maker’s Lab at the museum to encourage the pursuit of flying for local youth. The lab has a program in which youth build a model RC aircraft, take flying lessons on a simulator, and then go on to get their wings with their plane.
In the future, the club plans to provide flights for the students in small general aviation aircraft at Sequim Airport.
