Gill brings ‘Sing-A-Thon’ to Peninsula libraries

Musician and author Jim Gill will visit Clallam County libraries and invite audiences to sing, clap, dance and spin with singalongs this month.

Gill’s “Sing-A-Thon of Celebrated Songs” is coming to the Forks Library at 171 S. Forks Ave. at 6 p.m. Tuesday; the Sequim unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula at 400 W. Fir St. at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday; and again that evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Gill’s music play is an invitation to children, parents and grandparents to sing and play together, program organizers said.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket.

Gill has released 10 CDs of music play for young children.

His most popular book, “A Soup Opera,” is a singalong opera inspired by concerts that he performs with symphony orchestras.

He also is a child development specialist, completing his graduate studies in child development at the Erikson Institute of Chicago with a special emphasis on the study of play.
