PORT TOWNSEND — Northwind Art will offer fine art and furnishings at its first pop-up sale this weekend.
The event will be Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Jeanette Best Gallery, 701 Water St. in Port Townsend.
Paintings, sculptures, frames and framing materials, books, glassware and other goods — donated over the years to the nonprofit organization — will go on sale from noon to 5 p.m. all three days.
“Prices will range from $1 to $5 to $10 to $20,” Northwind spokesperson Diane Urbani said.
“This is a rare chance to collect art from local artists who have donated or bequeathed their beautiful works to us.”
The Northwind Art collection, which will feed the pop-up sale, includes abundant art from the late Jay Haskins and from the late Jeanette Best, both of whom were among the artists who were there when the Northwind Arts Center began some 25 years ago.
A number of other well-known artists’ works — from framed paintings to table-top sculptures — will be available for purchase.
Proceeds will benefit Northwind Art, which operates downtown’s Jeanette Best Gallery as well as the Northwind Art School at Fort Worden. For information about upcoming gallery shows and the variety of courses and workshops at the school, visit www.northwindart.org.
“For bargain seekers who already have enough art at home, or who are looking for framing supplies and odds and ends, the sale will have those too,” Urbani said.
“We’re so grateful to the artists who have generously shared their work with us,” she added. “Now we look forward to welcoming everyone to the gallery and to getting these artworks out into the world.”
Before and after the sale, Jeanette Best Gallery will be closed for a winter reboot. The venue will reopen with two new art exhibitions Jan. 30: “Being with Kelp,” featuring the art of Shawna Marie Franklin of Orcas Island, and “Showcase 2025,” which will display the work of 15 makers from across the region.
