Finding the heart in art message of First Friday Art Walk

SEQUIM— The First Friday Art Walk Sequim promises an evening filled with love, passionate pursues, red apparel, warm hearts, the virtues of fine wine, chocolate and sweet treats.

It is also National Wear Red Day to increase awareness of heart health.

Attendees will find works of art and folks supporting the option to decorate and dress in all shades of red from blush to burgundy for the evening out on the town.

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a free, self-guided tour of local art venues from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month. Visit Sequim ArtWalk.com to download and print a map, find special events, links and how to be part of art.

Initiated in 2006, the Art Walk is produced by Renne Emiko Brock with a mission to create approachable, accessible art and cultural venues that encourage the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity.

Special events

 La Petite Maison Blanche, 213 E. Washington St., features pastel artist Susan Kuznitsky with curated gifts and treats throughout the shop.

• Rainshadow Café, 157 W. Cedar St., has live music with Dawn & Steve from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Singing and some dancing is encouraged.

• Judith McInnes Tozzer Art Gallery at Sequim Museum & Arts, 544 N. Sequim Ave., hosts the “Inspiration/Exploration” a traveling Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc.

• Wild Goddess Brews-n-Bites, 145 E. Washington St., Suite D, has small bites, salads, dips and boards. Owl Chrysalis Medicine, a singer-song writer and a self-help author, will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. He will sing and have his books available to purchase.

• River House Bakery & Cafe, 120 W. Bell St., is a new venue for the First Friday Art Walk. It features a local artist along with food items.

• Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., has the “All You Need Is Love (and a Kiln)” exhibition with glass artist Sheri Whetstine and ceramicist Terri Biondolino.

• Pacific Mist Books, 122 W. Washington St., offers an eclectic mix of new and vintage books, cards and gifts, including local authors and artists.

• Forage Gifts & Northwest Treasures, 121 W. Washington St., features local and regional gifts and treats from around the area.

• Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County’s Sequim Habitat Boutique Store, 213 E. Washington St., will have live music with OG! from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

• Sequim Spice and Tea, 139 W. Washington St., will offer glass and pottery art, illustration and photography of local artists, as well as tea blends, teapots and cups and culinary gifts.

• Over the Fence, 118 E. Washington St., hosts one of their local makers.

• Cedarbrook Lavender Gift Shop, 120 W. Washington St., features lavender creations, treats and vintage décor items.

• Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., offers crafted wines and appetizing tidbits.

• Soup in the Alley, 138 W. Washington St., features a rotation of local artists, live music and treats.
