Community Read events begin

PORT TOWNSEND — The 2019 Community Read book is “Piano Tide” by Kathleen Dean Moore.

For a copy, visit the Port Townsend Library, 1220 Lawrence St., or Imprint Books, 820 Water St.

Each event of the month-long program is free and open to the public.

Here is the schedule for this weekend.

Saturday

• 2 p.m. — Phina Pipia directs the Library Children’s Choir in a concert of folk, classical, opera, rock and “Earth-loving songs,” First Baptist Church, 1202 Lawrence St., next to the library.

• 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. — Opening reception for “Response/Ability,” juried art show open through March at the Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St.

Sunday

• 1 p.m. — “Alone in the Wilderness,” a movie about one man’s dream to live in a pristine land, build a log cabin and be in alignment with the world, screens at the Uptown Theatre, 1120 Lawrence St.

Monday

• 2 p.m. — A “Book Lovers’ Cafe” discussion of “Piano Tide” is open at the Library Learning Center, aka the Pink House, 1256 Lawrence St.
