COUPEVILLE — Life Flight Network has announced a new partnership with WhidbeyHealth Medical Center.
The Oregon-based air medical transport service will stage an Agusta-Westland AW109E helicopter at the Island County medical center.
According to a press release, the agreement will provide ICU-level air transport to patients, not only in Coupeville, but across the San Juan Islands.
The new partnership expands capacity for the service’s Port Angeles base.
According to Dr. Jim Bryan, medical director for the Life Flight Network, “Helicopter air ambulance response is an essential health care service for a fast-growing urban area with traffic congestion among the worst in the country in addition to some of the most challenging landscapes due to large bodies of water.”
