Hairston named administrator and CEO of Bonneville Power Administration

WASHINGTON — The Department of Energy has named John Hairston as administrator and CEO of the Bonneville Power Administration.

Hairston has been the administration’s interim CEO since the retirement of Elliot Mainzer in August.

Hairson joined the administration in 1991 and has served previously as chief administrative officer from 2015 to 2019 and as chief operating officer since fall of 2019.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, La., a master’s degree in Urban Studies from Portland State University in Portland, Ore., and a Juris Doctorate from the Lewis and Clark College Northwestern School of Law in Portland, Ore.
