Wind advisory for eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca, Hood Canal areas this afternoon, evening

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 7 p.m.

The winds are expected to be the strongest in Miller and Quimper peninsula areas and along Hood Canal. Combining with wind waves will be an extreme high tide, which could cause minor lowland flooding.

THIS EVENING…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WIND

ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM PST

THIS EVENING. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* WIND…WEST WIND RISING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH.

* TIMING…WINDS WILL INCREASE RAPIDLY THIS MORNING…REMAIN

STRONG THROUGH THE AFTERNOON…THEN DIMINISH EARLY THIS

EVENING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 TO 39 MPH OR

GUSTS OF 45 TO 57 MPH ARE LIKELY. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN SNAP

SMALL TREE BRANCHES…TOPPLE SMALL OR SHALLOW ROOTED TREES…AND

CAUSE LOCAL POWER OUTAGES.
