Black Ball Ferry Line, Coho topic of history lecture Sunday in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Rian Anderson and Ryan Malane, two of the partners of Black Ball Ferry Line, will talk about the history of their company and the MV Coho ferry it operates as part of the Clallam County Historical Society’s “History Tales” lecture series Sunday.
The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 110 E. Seventh St., and starts at 2:30 p.m. Parking and entry to the church’s social hall is on Laurel Street.
The original Black Ball Line dates back to 1816 on the East Coast.
In 1916, steamers such as the SS Sol Duc and SS City of Angeles brought passengers to and from Clallam County.
In 2008, Black Ball Transport Inc. received the new operation name Black Ball Ferry Line. The ferry MV Coho has plied the waters between Port Angeles and Victoria since 1959.
“History Tales” is free and open to the public.
