PORT ANGELES — An organizational meeting for Holiday Extravaganza 2014 will be held at the Cornerhouse Restaurant, 101 E. Front St., at 8 a.m. Thursday.
Representatives of any Port Angeles retailer, including restaurants, are invited to join the planning group and sign up now to participate in the event.
The annual extravaganza — Nov. 7, 8 and 9 — kicks off the holiday season and showcases the best of what the city’s retail establishments have to offer.
It is also meant as a thank-you to the loyal, local customers that make the city’s small businesses possible, said Edna Petersen, one of the organizers of the event.
“It’s also a good opportunity to reintroduce folks to locally owned Port Angeles shops, what we have to offer and how cool we are,” said Petersen, who owns Necessities & Temptations at 217 N. Laurel St., a gift and department store.
Peterson hopes more than 50 businesses will participate in this year’s extravaganza, up from 34 last year.
Businesses will offer sales, surprises, refreshments and drawings for prizes — and participate in a raffle that will win one lucky shopper $5,000 in gift certificates.
Joining Petersen and Linda Cameron of Jim’s Pharmacy on the organizational committee are Pam and Kevin Pursley of Viking Sew and Vac, Josh Rancourt of Country Aire, Angie Webster and Angela Houston of Sunset Do it Best Hardware, and Janae Lyster of Sassy Kat Salon.
Those who can’t attend Thursday’s meeting are invited to follow up with Cameron at 360-452-4200 or lindac@jim’srx.com, or Petersen at 360-457-6400 or nectemp@olypen.com.
