PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE: Quilcene pounds Taholah to reach state; Clallam Bay falls to Tulalip Heritage

QUILCENE — Quilcene punched its first ticket to the state football playoffs since 1998 with a dominating 86-28 victory over Taholah Saturday.
The Rangers (7-2) will face Twin Valley (Wishkah Valley and Lake Quinault combine) either Friday or Saturday at Stewart Field in Aberdeen, according to Quilcene athletic director Mark Thompson.
An early knee injury to Taholah quarterback Keanu Curleybear helped Quilcene recover from a Chitwins score on the game’s opening possession.
Quilcene’s Eli Harrison intercepted three passes in the first quarter and four on the game to bring his season interception total to nine.
Up 20-6 with Taholah driving inside the Quilcene 20-yard line, Harrison swooped in and returned a pass 99 yards for a touchdown.
He added a 33-yard punt return and 52-yard quarterback keeper to put the Rangers comfortably ahead 72-20 at halftime.
Colten Pol rushed 11 times for 162 yards and two scores for Quilcene.
A.J. Prater also returned a kickoff 70 yards for the Rangers.
Tulalip Heritage 82, Clallam Bay 60
MARYSVILLE — Casey Randall was in on all nine touchdowns in the Bruins’ loss to the Hawks.
Randall ran for three scores, passed for three and returned two kickoffs and one interception for touchdowns in the final game of his high school career.
