QUILCENE — Quilcene Fire Rescue and resources from five other departments extinguished a residential fire Monday afternoon on Center Road near the intersection with East Columbia Street.

No injuries were reported.

Quilcene Fire Chief Tim McKern said crews responded at about 3 p.m. along with resources from East Jefferson Fire-Rescue, Brinnon Fire Rescue, Mason County Fire, Discovery Bay Fire Rescue and Port Ludlow Fire Rescue.

The cause was not immediately known.

The owner of the residence was unavailable for comment Monday.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire from spreading to a second building on the property or to one of the many vehicles laden with wood, McKern said.
