Entrance to state parks will be free March 19 for system’s 106th birthday

OLYMPIA — The Parks and Recreation Commission recently announced Tuesday, March 19, will be a free day at state parks in honor of the 106th birthday of the Washington state parks system.

On March 19 visitors to state parks will not need to have a Discover Pass or pay use fees.

A Discover Pass will still be required on recreation lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Fish and Wildlife.

The free day does not apply to Sno-Parks. Visitors to Sno-Parks in March will still need a Sno-Park permit.
